About Göreme City Guide

An independent, unofficial guide to Göreme and Cappadocia, written for travellers who want the practical facts in one place: what the museums cost, when the balloons fly, and which tour is worth the money.

What this site is

Göreme City Guide is an independent comparison guide. We are not a tour operator, not a ticket seller, and not connected to any museum, balloon company or booking platform. Every booking made through this site happens on the operator's own page; we research the options and compare them on paper so the decision takes minutes instead of evenings.

The site covers Göreme town and the Cappadocia villages around it: the Open Air Museum, the valleys, the underground cities, the balloon flights and the practical layer of getting here and getting around. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours, and we do not sell tickets: every booking happens on the operator's or the ticket office's own website.

Where the facts come from

Museum prices, opening hours and site rules are read from the official sources: the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's e-ticket shop at muze.gov.tr, UNESCO's listing for Göreme National Park, the airports' own pages, and the balloon and shuttle operators' own sites for their own products.

Where an official source does not publish a figure, the pages say so rather than borrow a number from a blog. Every page states the quarter its figures were read in, and the whole site is re-checked four times a year.

How the site earns

Some links on this site are affiliate links, mainly to GetYourGuide and Viator. If you book a tour through one of them, the operator pays us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. Hotel search links run through Stay22 on the same basis. Official ticket-office links are never affiliate links, and the comparison tables rank options the same way whether or not they pay us.

The currency figures

Turkey prices its museums in lira, and most tours are listed in dollars or euros. Pages on this site show the dollar figure first, with the official lira figure in brackets, converted at the European Central Bank reference rate recorded on the costs page. The lira figure is the one you actually pay.
